From Our Laguna Beach Tea Shop

The cup already smells like a cherry pastry coming out of the oven. But this next trick can make it even better. We tell customers to brew it stronger than usual, add a splash of milk and a touch of sugar, then finish with a single drop of pure vanilla extract. That is the whole trick, and it turns the cup into something closer to a warm cherry tart under vanilla ice cream.

If you want another bold fruity black tea, Elderberry Black is deeper and more tart, and Pomagranate Lemon is another bold choice.

  • How to brew it hot

1 teaspoon per 8 oz, 212°F, steep 3 to 5 minutes. Black tea needs the full boil.

  • How to make iced tea

2 teaspoons per 8 oz, same water and steep time, then pour over a full glass of ice. Double strength so the ice doesn't dilute it.

  • How to cold brew

Use 1.5 teaspoons of loose leaf tea per 8 ounces of filtered water.
Steep in your fridge for 8 to 12 hours.
Strain out the leaves and enjoy!

  3. Pour into a 4-quart freezer container and freeze overnight, or until set.
