From Our Laguna Beach Tea Shop

This is not a tea we have to "sell" ever. Everybody who wants a classic breakfast tea knows that they want it and where to find it on our shelves. This is one of those teas people buy in large bags because it is a steadfast friend.

If English Breakfast is your daily anchor, Earl Grey Organic is the natural next step with bergamot added, Irish Breakfast is the bolder two-tea blend worth comparing, and Assam Grand Estate is the single origin version for anyone who wants to know exactly where their breakfast cup comes from.

  • How to brew it hot

Use 1 teaspoon of loose leaf tea per 8 ounces of water at 212°F.
Steep for 3 to 5 minutes.
Full boiling water is what makes it taste like a proper breakfast cup.

  • How to make iced tea

Use 2 teaspoons of loose leaf tea per 8 ounces of water at 212°F.
Steep for 3 to 5 minutes, then pour over a full glass of ice.
Double the leaf so the ice does not thin the cup.

  • How to cold brew

Use 1.5 teaspoons of loose leaf tea per 8 ounces of filtered water.
Steep in your fridge for 8 to 12 hours.
Strain out the leaves and enjoy!

Beyond the Cup: Make Something Tasty with This Organic English Breakfast Tea

Brewed Tea BBQ Chicken

Serves 4 to 5

Organic English Breakfast tea gets whisked right into the barbecue sauce here, giving the glaze a malty depth alongside a smoky spice rub.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsweetened apple juice
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tbsp Pacific Salmon Rub
  • 1 tsp Spanish smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp coarsely ground pepper
  • 1 chicken (4 to 5 pounds), cut up
  • 1 cup your favorite BBQ sauce
  • 1/2 cup brewed Organic English Breakfast tea

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Pour the apple juice and water into a large shallow roasting pan. Mix the salmon rub, paprika, garlic powder, and pepper, and rub over the chicken. Place the chicken in the roasting pan.
  3. Bake for about an hour, covered, until the juices run clear and a thermometer reads 170°F. Transfer the chicken to a foil-lined 15x10x1-inch baking pan.
  4. Whisk together the barbecue sauce and brewed tea, then brush some of the mixture over the chicken.
  5. Place the chicken on a greased grill rack and grill over medium heat for 3 to 4 minutes per side, brushing occasionally with the remaining sauce.
