Strawberry Basil White

$7.00

WHITE TEA | LOW CAFFEINE | STRAWBERRY & BASIL

Strawberry often shows up in tea. Basil is what makes this one worth its own place on your shelf: the herbaceous edge balances the fruit, and the two together are more interesting than either alone. The white tea keeps everything light. Strawberry, without it being the only idea in the cup.

Sold in 1 oz quantities. Makes 6-10 cups of tea.

Ingredients

white tea, hibiscus, lemongrass, basil, rose hips, raspberry leaf, all natural flavors

From Our Laguna Beach Tea Shop

Strawberry Basil almost always gets a smile. People expect the strawberry, and then the basil makes them stop and ask, basil? We tell them not to let the name put them off, because it is one of those combinations that just works. The best part is when they come back to tell us they were skeptical and ended up loving it. That is usually when they are ready for another strawberry tea, and we point them to Strawberry Fields Forever, where the strawberry turns richer and bolder in a black tea.

  • How to brew it hot

Use 1 teaspoon of loose leaf tea per 8 ounces of water at 175 to 180 degrees. Steep 2 to 3 minutes. Lower water temperature keeps white tea from turning bitter.

  • How to make iced tea

Use 2 teaspoons of loose leaf tea per 8 ounces of water at 175 to 180 degrees. Steep 2 to 3 minutes and pour over a full glass of ice. The extra leaf covers what the ice waters down.

  • How to cold brew

Use 1.5 teaspoons of loose leaf tea per 8 ounces of filtered water.
Steep in your fridge for 3 to 6 hours.
Strain out the leaves and enjoy!

Strawberry Basil White Bruschetta

Serves 6

Crisp toasted baguette topped with whipped ricotta and strawberries macerated in a reduced Strawberry Basil White Tea syrup — an elegant appetizer.

Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp Tea & Turmeric Strawberry Basil White Tea
  • 2 cups water, heated to 175–185°F
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 pint fresh strawberries, diced
  • 8 fresh basil leaves, thinly sliced
  • 1 tsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 French baguette, sliced
  • 4 oz whipped ricotta
  • Freshly cracked black pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. Steep the Strawberry Basil White Tea in the 175–185°F water for 3 minutes. Strain into a small saucepan and stir in the honey. Simmer gently until reduced to about ½ cup, then allow it to cool completely.
  2. In a bowl, gently toss the strawberries with the basil, lemon juice, and 2 tablespoons of the cooled tea reduction. Let stand for 15 minutes.
  3. Meanwhile, toast the baguette slices until lightly crisp.
  4. Spread each toast with whipped ricotta, then spoon the strawberry mixture over the top. Finish with a light drizzle of the remaining tea reduction and a crack of black pepper, if desired.
