How To Get the Most From this tea for Everyday Wellness

Here's what we tell everyone who buys this one in our Laguna Beach store: think of it as your steady everyday tea, not something you only reach for when you feel run down. One teaspoon of leaves gives you two cups: a morning steep and a second steep of the same leaves later in the day.

Start with the water. Green tea leads this blend, so brew it at 175 to 180°F and never boiling. Boiling water scorches green tea and turns it bitter. Bitterness isn't a sign of strength. It means the leaves were burned. If it tastes smooth and earthy, you're doing it right.

Steep your first cup in the morning, covered, for 2 to 3 minutes. Then save the leaves. About 3 to 4 hours later steep those same leaves again at the same temperature for 5 to 6 minutes. The rooibos, moringa and turmeric have more to give on the second steep and the longer steep draws out what the first one left behind.

Let each cup cool to room temperature and take five to ten minutes to sip it slowly. Make it a small ritual, not a tea you gulp on your way out the door. Keep your second cup to early afternoon, since the green tea has some caffeine.

Give it time. These plants work best with steady use. Most people notice a difference after a few weeks rather than after the first cup. Then cycle it the way you would any tonic: three weeks on and one week off or weekdays on and weekends off. After three to four months, take a full month off so your body stays responsive to the plants instead of adapting around them. And listen to your body. If something feels off, pause for a few days. You know yourself better than any label does.

  • Why does this tea work?

Green tea: the source of this tea's gentle lift. It brings L-theanine, an amino acid that pairs with its caffeine for calm, clear focus instead of a jittery spike. It's also naturally rich in antioxidants.

Rooibos: South Africa's red bush, naturally caffeine free and low in tannins. It's the only plant known to contain aspalathin, a distinctive antioxidant.

Moringa: often called the miracle tree and valued across South and Southeast Asia for its leaves. They're unusually rich in vitamins and minerals like calcium and iron.

Turmeric: the golden root of Ayurveda, traditionally used for thousands of years to support joints, digestion and the body's response to everyday wear and tear. Its active compound is called curcumin.

Black pepper: here for one specific job. Your body has a hard time using curcumin on its own and clears most of it before it can be used. Piperine, the compound that gives pepper its bite, slows that down so more of the turmeric stays available.

These statements are based on traditional herbal use and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.

  • Which tea is right for me?

If you want one tea that covers the everyday basics and gives you a gentle lift, this is the one.

If you'd rather skip caffeine, try Greek Mountain Shepherd Tea, the other all-rounder in our wellness collection. It's a single calming herb called sideritis that you can drink any time of day.

And if turmeric is the main thing you're after, Therapeutic Turmeric is the more focused pick, with high-curcumin turmeric.

  • Who should use extra caution?

Not recommended if you are pregnant, nursing, have a medical condition or are on medications without checking with your healthcare provider first.

This blend has some caffeine from the green tea. If you're very caffeine sensitive, keep it to earlier in the day.

Most of the turmeric warnings you'll see online are about concentrated supplements. Brewed as a tea, turmeric is much milder. Still, if you have gallstones or take a blood thinner, it's worth mentioning to your doctor, especially if you drink a lot of it.

Questions from our Laguna Beach Store customers about this tea

Turmeric green tea gives you the gentle lift of green tea along with turmeric, traditionally used for thousands of years to support joints and digestion. Gold Standard Wellness adds moringa for vitamins and minerals, caffeine-free rooibos and black pepper so your body can actually use the turmeric.

Yes. Turmeric green tea has some caffeine and all of it comes from the green tea. In this blend it's roughly a quarter of what's in a cup of coffee, since the rooibos, moringa and turmeric are all caffeine free. You get a gentle lift rather than a buzz, so it's best kept to the daytime.

Yes, you can drink green tea and turmeric together. This blend puts them in one tea with black pepper, because your body has a hard time absorbing curcumin on its own and black pepper helps. A splash of milk or coconut milk helps too, since curcumin dissolves in fat.

Each serving of this turmeric green tea is one teaspoon of a five-ingredient blend, steeped and strained, so every plant is present in a modest amount. If you take a daily prescription, show your pharmacist or doctor the ingredient list before you start.
