Decaf Earl Grey Organic Black Tea

$7.00

BLACK TEA | CAFFEINE FREE | ORGANIC | BRIGHT & CITRUSY

You probably figured going decaf meant giving up Earl Grey's bergamot too. It didn't. This organic decaffeinated black tea keeps the same bright bergamot oil as our regular Earl Grey, so a black tea drinker done with caffeine doesn't have to be done with Earl Grey. Same tea, minus the caffeine.

Sold in 1 oz quantities. Makes 6-10 cups of tea.

From Our Laguna Beach Tea Shop

We spent real time getting this one right, testing until the bergamot tasted like bergamot, not an afterthought. The version we landed on keeps the same bright, citrusy oil as our regular Earl Grey, just without the caffeine. It's become the tea we point people to when they want Earl Grey any time of day, including after dinner.

If caffeine is not an issue for you, that is when the fun starts. Our Organic Earl Grey is the classic baseline, while Moonlit Earl Grey softens things up with a touch of vanilla and cornflower petals. For something with a bit more old world depth, Victorian Era Earl Grey is a favorite to explore side by side. It is amazing how different the same profile can taste once you start comparing them.

  • How to brew it hot

1 teaspoon per 8 oz, steeped at 212°F for 3 to 5 minutes. Full heat is where the bergamot oil comes out brightest.

  • How to make iced tea

2 teaspoons per 8 oz, same temperature and time, poured over a full glass of ice. The extra leaf keeps the bergamot from thinning out over ice.

  • How to cold brew

Use 1.5 teaspoons of loose leaf tea per 8 ounces of filtered water.
Steep in your fridge for 8 to 12 hours.
Strain out the leaves and enjoy!

Beyond the Cup: Make Something Tasty with This Decaf Earl Grey Tea

Earl Grey Champagne Cocktail

Serves 1

A bright Decaf Earl Grey concentrate meets lemon and simple syrup, then gets topped with chilled champagne for an elegant, bergamot-laced toast.

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp Organic Decaf Earl Grey loose leaf
  • 2 oz hot filtered water (to make a strong concentrate)
  • 1/2 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 oz simple syrup or honey syrup
  • 4 oz dry champagne or a crisp sparkling wine, chilled
  • Lemon twist, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Make the Tea Concentrate: Steep the Decaf Earl Grey in the hot water for 5 minutes, then strain out the leaves and let the liquid cool completely. A full cooldown keeps the concentrate from prematurely warming the chilled champagne.
  2. Mix the Base: In a champagne flute or a mixing glass with ice, combine 1 ounce of the cooled Earl Grey concentrate with the fresh lemon juice and simple syrup. Building the base first lets the bergamot and citrus balance before the champagne goes in.
  3. Top with Champagne: Pour the chilled champagne over the mixture and stir very gently to combine. Garnish with a fresh lemon twist. A gentle stir keeps the champagne's bubbles intact.
