Fuchsia Pixie Blooming Tea

$7.00

GREEN TEA | LOW CAFFEINE | BLOOMING TEA

This is not a tea you make in a hurry. One bundle drops into a glass teapot, hot water goes in slowly, and then you watch. Over the next ten minutes the bundle opens into a full bloom of fuchsia amaranth and chrysanthemum sitting on a base of green tea leaves. Each bundle steeps three times, which means the show is just the beginning.

Sold in quantities of three.

Ingredients

green tea leaves, chrysanthemum, jasmine and amaranth flowers

Pause. Breathe. Let it wait.”

From Our Laguna Beach Tea Shop

We learned very quickly that patience is part of the experience with this tea. While filming a video for our shop, we actually timed how long it took for the flower to fully bloom, and it was well over 10 minutes. Most people are surprised to learn it also makes at least three cups and can be steeped two more times after that first beautiful bloom.

That little experiment changed the way we introduce this tea in the shop. Instead of treating it like an everyday cup, we tell people to slow down and enjoy the show. If they leave wanting to explore more handcrafted teas, Jasmine Pearls is usually the next one we recommend because it has that same sense of anticipation as the leaves slowly unfurl in the cup.

  • How to brew it hot

se a clear glass teapot or mug. You need to see this one.

Drop one blooming tea in, pour water at 185°F slowly along the side, never straight down onto it. Then wait. It takes 10 minutes or more to fully open, sometimes longer depending on how tightly it is tied. That wait is the whole point of this tea. Once it blooms, pour gently and leave the flower where it is. Refill the same way for a second and third steep, adding a few extra minutes each time. The second cup is softer. The third is the quietest of the three.

Store the bloomed tea in the fridge in a sealed container without water for up to 48 hours if you want to come back to it.

  • How to make iced tea

Not recommended. This tea needs heat to open. Serve it hot and enjoy it slowly.

  • How to cold brew

Not recommended for the same reason. Cold water will not open the blooming tea.

Beyond the Cup: Make Something Tasty with This Fuchsia Pixie Blooming Tea

Fuchsia Pixie Floral Sparkler

Serves 1

A blooming tea sparkler where a Fuchsia Pixie blossom unfurls in warm water, then meets ice and sparkling water for a glowing, floral pour.

Ingredients

  • 1 Fuchsia Pixie Blooming Tea blossom
  • 4 ounces hot water (175°F/80°C)
  • 1 teaspoon light agave nectar or clear simple syrup
  • 4 ounces chilled sparkling water
  • Ice cubes
  • Garnish: A single fresh edible flower (like a pansy) or a thin slice of starfruit for a pop of color

Instructions

  1. Place the Fuchsia Pixie blossom in a clear, wide-mouthed glass. Pour the 175°F water over the blossom. Watch as it slowly unfurls and reveals the fuchsia amaranth and chrysanthemum. Let it steep for 3–5 minutes until the tea is fragrant and fully open.
  2. Gently stir in the agave or simple syrup while the tea is still warm to ensure it dissolves.
  3. Add a few ice cubes to the glass slowly, sliding them down the side of the glass so you don't disturb the beautiful bloom too much. The temperature drop will stop the tea from becoming bitter.
  4. Carefully pour the sparkling water over the ice. The carbonation will dance around the open petals, creating a beautiful, glowing visual effect.
  5. Add your garnish and serve immediately with a long spoon or glass straw so the customer can enjoy the floral aroma as they sip.
