Lapsang Souchong Organic

$8.00

BLACK TEA | MODERATE CAFFEINE | ORGANIC | SMOKED

Smoke is not a note in this tea, smoke is the point. The leaf itself is smoked over a wood fire, and since the ingredients list stops at one line, nothing thins it out. What you get is woodsmoke at full strength, which is why bold black tea drinkers already know this one. Everyone else should meet it.

Sold in 1 oz quantities. Makes 6-10 cups of tea

From Our Laguna Beach Tea Shop

A customer was the one who told us you can cook with it, anywhere a dish needs smoke. Brew it strong and it earns a place in the kitchen as easily as the kettle. We have been passing that on ever since.

If Lapsang Souchong has you exploring bold distinctive teas, Pu-erh Organic is the other conversation starter in our shop, earthy and aged where this one is smoky. And Ti Kuan Yin Oolong is the lighter, more floral side of the Chinese tea tradition, a completely different character but worth knowing alongside these two.

  • How to brew it hot

Use 1 teaspoon of loose leaf tea per 8 ounces of water at 212°F.
Steep for 3 to 5 minutes.
Full boiling water is what pulls the smoke out of the leaf.

  • How to make iced tea

Use 2 teaspoons of loose leaf tea per 8 ounces of water at 212°F.
Steep for 3 to 5 minutes, then pour over a full glass of ice.
Double the leaf so the ice does not thin the cup.

  • How to cold brew

Use 1.5 teaspoons of loose leaf tea per 8 ounces of filtered water.
Steep in your fridge for 8 to 12 hours.
Strain out the leaves and enjoy!
