Cucumber Melon Green Tea

$7.00

GREEN TEA | LOW CAFFEINE | CUCUMBER & MELON

Fruit in a tea reads as sweet before you taste it. Cucumber reads as cool instead, and the melon adds a floral lift to that freshness rather than sweeten. Wonderful hot, but it shines cold, which is where cucumber is at its most refreshing. For when you want refreshing and fruity is not the same thing.

Sold in 1 oz quantities. Makes 6-10 cups of tea.

From Our Laguna Beach Tea Shop

This is one we show people who don't necessarily want a fruity or floral green tea but want something that isn't a single green tea either. When we tell them it's one of our best teas for cold brewing, they're sold. The question that usually follows is whether there is something similar without the caffeine, and that is when we bring out Cucumber Lemon Hydration, the same cool cucumber character leaning citrus rather than melon.

  • How to brew it hot

Use 1 teaspoon of loose leaf tea per 8 ounces of water at 175 to 180 degrees. Steep 2 to 3 minutes. Lower water temperature keeps green tea from turning bitter.

  • How to make iced tea

Use 2 teaspoons of loose leaf tea per 8 ounces of water at 175 to 180 degrees. Steep 2 to 3 minutes and pour over a full glass of ice. The extra leaf covers what the ice waters down.

  • How to cold brew

Use 1.5 teaspoons of loose leaf tea per 8 ounces of filtered water.
Steep in your fridge for 3 to 6 hours.
Strain out the leaves and enjoy!

Beyond the Cup: Make Something Tasty with This Cucumber Melon Green Tea

Cucumber Melon Sparkling Spritzer

Serves 1

A chilled, spa-like sipper where Cucumber Melon Green Tea concentrate meets sparkling water, dressed up with cucumber ribbons, honeydew, and fresh mint.

Ingredients

  • 2 teaspoons Cucumber Melon Green Tea
  • 4 ounces filtered water (heated to 175°F/80°C)
  • 1 teaspoon agave nectar or simple syrup
  • 4 ounces chilled sparkling water
  • Garnish: 3 thin ribbons of fresh cucumber
  • Garnish: 3 small cubes of fresh honeydew melon
  • Garnish: a small sprig of fresh mint

Instructions

  1. Steep the Cucumber Melon Green Tea in the 175°F water for 3 minutes. Strain the tea into a small glass or heat-proof jar. Stir in the agave or simple syrup while the tea is still warm to ensure it dissolves completely.
  2. Place the concentrate in the refrigerator until completely chilled. For best results, chill for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Fill a tall glass with ice. Place the cucumber ribbons vertically along the inside of the glass to create a spa-like presentation. Add the fresh honeydew cubes into the ice.
  4. Pour the chilled tea concentrate over the ice, filling the glass about halfway.
  5. Top the remainder of the glass with the sparkling water.
  6. Add a small sprig of fresh mint for aromatics, give it one gentle stir with a long spoon to incorporate, and serve immediately.
