Pleasantly sweet, and it earns its keep. Licorice root has been a staple in Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine for good reason: it coats a scratchy throat, settles digestion, and helps you breathe easy*.
Clean anise flavor, no caffeine, and a little goes a long way.
Sold in 1 oz quantities. Makes 6-10 cups of tea.

What Our Laguna Beach Customers Ask Us About This Tea
Why does this tea work?
Licorice root coats and soothes the mucous membranes lining the throat, digestive tract, and respiratory passages.
This demulcent quality drives most of its traditional uses: sore throats, dry coughs, heartburn, acid reflux, and general digestive irritation.
It has also been used in Ayurvedic and Western herbal traditions to support hormonal comfort in women, traditionally valued for easing PMS and menopausal discomfort through its mild phytoestrogenic activity.
How do I use this tea?
The natural root behind black licorice, far milder, without the sugar or the sharp anise hit.
Naturally sweet enough that most people need nothing added.
Use half to one teaspoon per eight ounces of water at 212 degrees, steeped seven to ten minutes.
Use in moderation and cycle it: two to three weeks on, one week off. Not an herb to drink in large amounts every day without breaks.
Can I boost the benefits of this tea?
Licorice Root + Peppermint
Licorice root coats and soothes the throat and respiratory tract while peppermint provides a cooling, opening sensation that supports easy breathing.
One calms irritated tissue, one clears and refreshes the airways.
Together, a perfect pairing during seasonal congestion or when the throat needs direct soothing support.
Who should use extra caution?
If you have high blood pressure or take blood pressure medication, avoid licorice root. Glycyrrhizin can raise blood pressure and should not be used regularly by anyone with hypertension or on antihypertensive medications.
Extended daily use can also cause potassium depletion, which affects heart and muscle function.
If you take corticosteroids, diuretics, or blood thinners, speak with your doctor before using it regularly as it interacts with all three. Use cautiously with kidney or liver disease.
Not recommended during pregnancy.
If you have a surgery scheduled, stop at least two weeks before your procedure and let your surgical team know.
