What Our Laguna Beach Customers Ask Us About This Tea

  • Why does this tea work?

Chamomile's most consistent traditional use is for relaxation and sleep support. It contains apigenin, a naturally occurring compound that binds to calming receptors in the brain, and has long been used to quiet mild anxiety without the heaviness of stronger sedative herbs.

In Ayurveda it has been used for centuries to support digestive comfort, ease nausea, and settle general digestive discomfort after meals.

Also traditionally valued for mild anti-inflammatory support, both internally and topically for healthy skin.

  • How do I use this tea?

Pale golden, soft sweetness, gentle floral note that does not overpower.

Mild enough to drink without sweetener, though honey pairs nicely.

One heaped teaspoon per eight ounces of water at 212 degrees, steeped five to seven minutes.

For a stronger sleep cup, steep closer to ten minutes.

Make lemony chamomile crepes with it!

  • Can I boost the benefits of this tea?

    Chamomile + Lemon Balm

Chamomile encourages the body to relax while lemon balm quiets a busy, restless mind. Together they support both the physical and mental sides of winding down.

Neither is heavy or sedating in a pharmaceutical sense. This is the kind of combination that helps you arrive at sleep rather than forcing it.

  • Who should use extra caution?

If you are allergic to ragweed, chrysanthemums, marigolds, or other plants in the Asteraceae family, avoid chamomile entirely as cross-reactions are well documented.

Chamomile has mild blood-thinning properties and should be used with caution if you take warfarin or any other anticoagulant. If you have a surgery scheduled, stop at least two weeks before your procedure and let your surgical team know.

It can enhance the effects of sedative medications including benzodiazepines and sleep aids, so check with your doctor if you are on any of those.

Not recommended during pregnancy in therapeutic amounts.
