HERBAL TEA | CAFFEINE FREE | ORGANIC | WELLNESS BOTANICAL

A workhorse for clean skin and gentle detox. Burdock root has been a blood-cleansing favorite for centuries used to support clear skin, healthy digestion and the body's natural detox*. Earthy, mild and caffeine-free.

We carry it as dried organic root because it has a long, well-tested track record as an alterative herb, the traditional term for one that gradually restores and cleanses the system over time.

Sold in 1 oz quantities. Makes 6-10 cups of tea.

What Our Laguna Beach Customers Ask Us About This Tea

  • Why does this tea work?

Burdock root's most consistent traditional use is as a blood cleanser, working through the liver, kidneys, and skin to clear waste and support a clear complexion.

It has long been the herb of choice for chronic skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis, where the goal is gradual cleansing over time rather than a quick fix.

Its bitter compounds stimulate bile and digestive secretions, making it a traditional liver and digestive herb.

It is also naturally rich in inulin, a prebiotic fiber that supports healthy gut bacteria, and has traditionally been used as a gentle diuretic for kidney support.

  • How do I use this tea?

Earthy, mildly bitter, and slightly sweet with a woody, root-vegetable character.

Honey helps and fresh ginger adds warmth and rounds out the flavor.

One teaspoon of dried root per eight ounces of water at a full 212 degrees, steeped ten to fifteen minutes. Or simmer gently on the stovetop for five minutes for a stronger, more extracted cup.

  • Can I boost the benefits of this tea?

    Burdock Root + Dandelion Root

Burdock works through the blood and skin to clear waste while dandelion root stimulates bile and supports the liver's natural detox function.

One cleanses outward through the skin, the other works through the liver and digestion. A time-tested pairing when clear skin and liver support are the goal.

  • Who should use extra caution?

If you are allergic to ragweed or plants in the Asteraceae family, be aware that burdock is in the same family and cross-reactions are possible.

Burdock can enhance the effects of diabetes medication, so monitor your blood sugar and check with your doctor if you take any.

It may also add to the effects of diuretics and blood thinners, so speak with your doctor if either applies to you.

Not recommended during pregnancy, as burdock has traditionally been considered a uterine stimulant.
