What Our Laguna Beach Customers Ask Us About This Tea

  • Why does this tea work?

Marshmallow root has nothing to do with the candy beyond the fact that the original confection was made from this plant.

What makes it useful is its mucilage content. Mucilage becomes gel-like in water, and when you drink this tea that gel coats the mucous membranes lining your throat, digestive tract, and urinary tract directly.

It is a physical, local action, not a systemic one, which is why it has been a reliable herb in European, Ayurvedic, and Middle Eastern medicine for centuries.

It does something specific and does it well.

  • How do I use this tea?

    • Pale, milky, mildly sweet, and distinctly silky in texture. That texture is the mucilage and it is exactly what you are after.

    • Gentle enough to drink without sweetener.

Use one teaspoon per eight ounces of water at 212 degrees and steep ten to fifteen minutes.

    • For a more therapeutic cup, cold brew it instead since cold water pulls out more of the good stuff than hot: steep in fridge with filtered water for four to eight hours.
  • Can I boost the benefits of this tea?

    Marshmallow Root + Peppermint

Marshmallow root coats and protects the digestive lining directly while peppermint works through its menthol content to ease spasm, reduce bloating, and support comfortable digestion.

One is protective and coating, the other active and antispasmodic.

A useful pairing for anyone whose digestion runs toward irritation or sensitivity.

  • Who should use extra caution?

Because mucilage can slow medication absorption, avoid drinking marshmallow root tea within two hours of taking any oral medication.

People with diabetes should use it with awareness as it may affect blood sugar levels.

Not recommended in therapeutic amounts during pregnancy.
