Agua de Jamaica (Hibiscus Agua Fresca)
Serves 6 to 8
A tart, ruby-red hibiscus cooler, lightly sweetened and brightened with fresh lime — perfect served over ice on a warm day.
Ingredients
- 1 cup Tea & Turmeric Hibiscus Flowers
- 8 cups water, divided
- ½ to ¾ cup cane sugar, honey, or agave, to taste
- ¼ cup fresh lime juice
- Lime slices, for garnish
- Ice
Instructions
- Bring 4 cups of the water to a boil in a medium saucepan. Remove from the heat, stir in the hibiscus flowers, cover, and let steep for 20 to 30 minutes.
- Strain the tea into a large pitcher, pressing gently on the flowers to extract as much liquid as possible. Discard the flowers.
- Add the remaining 4 cups of cold water, your sweetener of choice, and the fresh lime juice. Stir until the sweetener has completely dissolved.
- Refrigerate until well chilled. Serve over ice with fresh lime slices.
