What Our Laguna Beach Customers Ask Us About This Tea

  • Why does this tea work?

Dandelion root works through its bitter compounds, taraxacin and taraxacerin, which stimulate bile production and flow from the liver and gallbladder.

Bile is how the body breaks down fats and moves waste through the digestive system, so that stimulation has a direct effect on both digestive comfort and liver function.

Also used traditionally as a gentle diuretic for kidney support and natural elimination, and there is growing research on its effect on blood sugar regulation and insulin sensitivity.

  • How do I use this tea?

Earthy, mildly bitter, slightly woody. Not a delicate cup.

Honey softens it without masking it, and fresh ginger brewed alongside adds warmth and rounds out the flavor naturally.

One teaspoon per eight ounces of water at a full 212 degrees, steeped ten to fifteen minutes.

Or simmer gently on the stovetop for five minutes for stronger extraction.

  • Can I boost the benefits of this tea?

    Dandelion Root + Moringa Leaf

Dandelion root stimulates bile production and supports the liver's natural detox function while moringa provides the antioxidant-rich nutritional foundation that supports the whole body alongside it.

Cleansing support from two complementary directions.

  • Who should use extra caution?

If you have gallstones or a bile duct obstruction, avoid dandelion root. Its bile-stimulating action can aggravate these conditions and cause significant discomfort.

If you take prescription diuretics, use with caution as the combination can produce a stronger effect than intended.

Dandelion root affects how the liver processes certain medications including lithium, some antibiotics, and blood thinners, so speak with your doctor if any of those apply.

If you are allergic to ragweed or plants in the Asteraceae family, be aware that dandelion is in the same family and cross-reactions are possible.

Not recommended in therapeutic amounts during pregnancy.

Dandelion Root Mushroom Gravy

Makes about 2 cups

A rich, earthy gravy built on a dandelion root infusion and browned cremini mushrooms — perfect over mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or biscuits.

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp Tea & Turmeric Dandelion Root
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 8 oz cremini mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 small shallot, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp fresh thyme leaves
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ tsp sea salt, or to taste
  • ¼ tsp freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine the dandelion root and water. Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 15 minutes. Strain, pressing gently on the root to extract all of the flavorful liquid. Set the infusion aside.
  2. Meanwhile, melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the mushrooms and cook until they release their moisture and begin to brown, about 8 to 10 minutes.
  3. Add the shallot and cook until softened, about 3 minutes. Stir in the garlic and thyme and cook for 30 seconds.
  4. Sprinkle the flour over the mushrooms and stir continuously for 1 minute.
  5. Slowly whisk in the warm dandelion root infusion, followed by the Worcestershire sauce. Simmer for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the gravy thickens.
  6. Season with the salt and pepper to taste.
