OG Steak Seasoning Organic

STEAK SEASONING | ORGANIC | BUTCHER'S CUT PEPPER | SMOKED SALT

A best seller since the day we opened. Built on butcher's cut black pepper, cracked coarse so it survives a hard sear instead of scorching, with garlic and onion for the pungency and parsley for a fresh, grassy lift. Smoked alderwood salt adds the charcoal note a cast iron pan can't. Coat all sides, sear hard, and the crust builds itself.

Here is how we tell customers to use it:

Press it on rather than sprinkling it. Butcher's cut pepper is coarse, and it needs contact with the surface to stay put through a sear.

Another tip: season more meat than you need. Leftovers seasoned with this blend make excellent sandwiches, breakfast hash, tacos, and steak salads the next day, because the smoky garlic flavor holds up after reheating.

  • What to use it on

Steak first, any cut, over charcoal or in cast iron.

Burgers and lamb chops, where the coarse pepper has something to grip.

Beef stew and soups, rubbed onto the meat before it browns.

Stirred into cooked black beans or a lentil salad, where the smoked salt reads like slow-cooked bacon.

Hearty Beef Stew

Serves 4-6

Beef seared in OG Steak Seasoning, simmered low and slow with stout and Worcestershire, then finished with tender potatoes and carrots.

Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 1.5 lb stewing beef, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 lb russet potatoes, peeled and quartered
  • 2 large onions, cut into wedges
  • 2-3 carrots, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 5-6 garlic cloves, minced
  • 6 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup stout or Guinness beer
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1.5 tbsp OG Steak Seasoning
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, finely chopped (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a pot over medium-high heat. Season the beef well with OG Steak Seasoning. Brown the meat on all sides, working in batches.
  2. Remove beef and set aside. In the same pot, saute the onions until tender. Add the garlic, and cook 1 minute more.
  3. Add broth, and scrape the bottom of the pan to deglaze. Return beef to the pan.
  4. Add bay leaves, beer, thyme, and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low, then cover and simmer 1 hour or until meat is tender.
  5. Add potatoes and carrots, cover and cook for 30 to 40 minutes, or until vegetables are tender.
  6. Add salt and pepper to taste. Discard the bay leaves, and skim off fat from the surface of the stew.
  7. Serve in bowls and sprinkle with chopped parsley. Enjoy!
