From Our Laguna Beach Spice & Tea Shop

Here's what we tell folks who ask how to get the most out of this one at the shop.

Knead 1 to 2 tablespoons of Pasta and Pizza Seasoning into homemade pizza dough or focaccia before the final rise. The herbs and sun-dried tomatoes distribute flavor throughout the dough, so every bite is seasoned instead of just the crust.

The One That Surprises Everyone

Stir the seasoning into ricotta before filling stuffed shells, manicotti, or lasagna. It seasons the cheese evenly and gives every layer the flavor of a slow-simmered Italian meal without reaching for a handful of separate herbs.

  • What to use it on

Homemade pizza sauce or marinara pick up the classic Italian herb flavor that makes every slice taste like it came from the oven, not the jar.

Meatballs, meatloaf, or Italian sausage take on savory herb flavor in every bite when it's mixed in before cooking.

Baked ziti, lasagna, and other baked pasta dishes get an extra layer of herb and sun-dried tomato flavor with a sprinkle before they go into the oven.

A quick brush of olive oil and this over pizza crust, garlic bread, or focaccia turns golden and flavorful in the oven.

Mrs. Domenica Meatballs, 100 Year Old Recipe

Serves 4

A family recipe for tender baked meatballs, seasoned with Pasta and Pizza Seasoning, fresh herbs, and grated Romano.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground chuck
  • 4 oz dried bread crumbs
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 3/4 cup grated Romano
  • 1 to 2 tbsp Pasta and Pizza Seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/4 tsp Tellicherry pepper
  • 1 large onion, grated
  • 1 tbsp garlic, chopped
  • 2 oz fresh Italian parsley leaves
  • 2 oz fresh basil leaves

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray a baking sheet with olive oil cooking spray.
  2. Mix all ingredients thoroughly in a large bowl. If the mixture seems a little loose, add more bread crumbs.
  3. Roll meatballs loosely, about the size of a golf ball, and place on the baking sheet. Bake for approximately 35 to 40 minutes.

These meatballs freeze well. Make a double batch and use them for spaghetti and meat sauce, or for meatball sandwiches.
