GREEN TEA | HIGH CAFFEINE | ORGANIC | CEREMONIAL GRADE

We carry exactly one matcha, which means it has to be right. This one is organic and ceremonial grade both, a combination that narrows the field faster than you would think, made from shade-grown young leaves stone ground with no stems or veins. When there is only one on the shelf, it has to be worthy.

Sold in 1 oz quantities. Makes 10-15 cups of tea.

From Our Laguna Beach Tea Shop

One of our favorite conversations starts when someone asks how to get the most out of green tea. Most people are surprised to hear that with matcha you are drinking the whole leaf rather than steeping it and throwing it away. For anyone who wants to go deeper, Episode 19 of The Tea on Wellness podcast covers the science, the ritual and why matcha feels so different from coffee. The Matcha Guide covers preparation, dosing and technique in detail. And How Much Matcha Is Too Much answers the question we get asked most. Those conversations usually lead to what makes Japanese green teas different from one another, which is when Sencha and Gyokuro get shown.

  • How to brew it hot

Sift half a teaspoon into a bowl, add 4 ounces of water at 175 to 180 degrees, and whisk until frothy.

Download the Matcha Guide for detailed preparation, dosing, and technique.

  • How to make iced tea

Whisk 1 teaspoon into 4 ounces of water at 175 to 180 degrees, then pour over a full glass of ice. Double the matcha so the ice does not thin it out.

  • How to cold brew

Not recommended for cold brewing. Matcha is whisked rather than steeped, so there is nothing to strain out and nothing gained by leaving it in the fridge.

Beyond the Cup: Make Something Tasty with This Organic Ceremonial Matcha

Acai Matcha Bowl

Serves 1

A creamy, blended smoothie bowl where ceremonial matcha powder meets banana, pineapple, and a hidden dose of spinach and zucchini.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup coconut milk
  • 1 small frozen banana
  • 1/2 cup frozen pineapple chunks
  • 1/2 cup chopped zucchini
  • Handful of fresh spinach
  • 1 serving vegan vanilla protein powder
  • 2 tsp ceremonial matcha powder
  • For topping: toasted coconut flakes
  • For topping: fresh berries

Instructions

  1. Add all of the ingredients to a high-speed blender and turn on low. Once it starts to blend, slowly increase the speed and keep blending until it's completely smooth and creamy.
  2. You may need to use the tamper for your blender or stop to keep mixing. Be patient. The whole process should take less than 2 minutes.
  3. Scoop the mixture into a bowl, add your favorite toppings, and enjoy with a spoon. We love toasted coconut flakes and fresh berries.
