Get the Most from this Tea for Focus and Energy

Drink this one in the morning or early afternoon. There is real caffeine here and the adaptogens give a steady daytime lift. Late in the day it may keep you up.

The two-steep daily ritual: use the same leaves twice. First steep 3 to 4 minutes at 175 to 185F, cooler and shorter than most herbal teas. Green tea brewed too hot or too long turns bitter. Let it cool slightly and sip it slowly and intentionally, taking about 10 minutes to finish the cup. Three to four hours later, steep the same leaves again for 8 to 10 minutes at the same temperature. The longer second steep draws more from the roots in this blend, particularly eleuthero and ginger. Drink that cup at room temperature too, slowly over 10 minutes.

If it ever tastes harsh or bitter, pull the leaves sooner next time. Small adjustments make a big difference with green tea.

Pair it with focused work, not multitasking. This cup is for calm, switched-on attention. Line it up with the task that actually needs your head, not the one where you are scattered across ten tabs.

How long to take it: drink it Monday through Friday with weekends off, or three weeks on with one week off. Do that for three to four months, then take a full month off to rest. Adaptogens like eleuthero and schisandra work best with consistent use over time, not as a one-off cup.

  • Why does this tea work?

Green tea: the gentle engine of the blend, providing real but steady caffeine for a lift that is far smoother than coffee, plus L-theanine, the naturally calming amino acid that keeps the energy clean rather than jittery.

Eleuthero root: often called Siberian ginseng, one of the original adaptogens, traditionally used to support stamina, endurance and steady energy without the jitters. A big reason this cup feels clean rather than spiking.

    Schisandra berry:
an adaptogenic berry in traditional Chinese medicine, traditionally used to support focus and resilience, with a calming rather than stimulating character that balances the green tea lift.

Ginkgo leaf: long associated with mental clarity and healthy circulation to the brain. Included specifically for the focus side of this blend, not the energy side.

Gotu kola: a classic brain herb traditionally used to support concentration and a clear, settled mind.

Licorice root and ginger root: licorice is here for adrenal support and to add natural sweetness to a very green, earthy cup. Ginger brings warmth and digestive ease, making this blend more pleasant to drink daily.

These statements are based on traditional herbal use and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.

  • Is this the right one for me?

This is one of three brain-and-focus blends we make, and the right one comes down to how much lift you want.

Reach for Focus and Energy when you want actual energy, a green tea caffeine lift made steady and clean by the adaptogens, for daytime hours when you need to get things done. It is the most energizing of the three.

If you want clarity with only a trace of caffeine, Memory Function Tea is the calmer, herb-forward memory cup with just a trace of green tea. And if you want zero caffeine at all, Restorative Mind Moringa is the sweet, nutrient-dense, all-day option built around moringa.

Pick by how much of a lift you are actually after.

  • Who should skip this one?

Not recommended if you are pregnant, nursing, have a medical condition or are on medications without checking with your healthcare provider first.

If you have a surgery scheduled, stop drinking this blend at least two weeks before your procedure and let your surgical team know what herbs you have been taking.

This blend contains real caffeine from green tea. It is not the one to reach for in the evening, and worth approaching gently if you are caffeine sensitive.

Eleuthero can be stimulating and may affect blood pressure or heart rate. Check with your doctor first if you have a heart condition or high blood pressure.

Ginkgo can slow blood clotting. If you take blood thinners or have a bleeding disorder, clear it with your doctor before drinking this regularly.

This blend contains licorice root. Unlike our larger blends, this is a 7 herb formula, which means licorice is present at a proportionally higher amount per cup. If you have high blood pressure or a heart condition, check with your doctor before making this a daily habit.

What Customers at Our Laguna Beach Store Ask About This Tea

The difference is the adaptogens. Green tea gives this blend a real but gentle caffeine lift, and then eleuthero and schisandra, two well-regarded adaptogenic herbs, are there to make that energy feel clean and steady rather than a spike followed by a crash. Adaptogens are traditionally used to help the body handle stress and hold its balance, which is why the energy here feels calm and switched on at the same time rather than wired. Ginkgo and gotu kola add the focus side of the equation, both long associated with mental clarity and helping scattered thoughts line up. This is the daytime cup for when you want to actually get things done. Energy with focus built in, not just caffeine.

It is designed not to, but there is real caffeine in here, so it depends on you. The green tea provides a genuine lift, while the adaptogens, eleuthero and schisandra, are there specifically to smooth that energy into something steady rather than jittery. For most people the result feels clean and calm. That said, if you are very caffeine sensitive, the green tea plus stimulating eleuthero could be a bit much, so start with a lighter brew, and either way keep it to earlier in the day so it does not affect your sleep.

You can, with a couple of sensible habits. Because it has real caffeine, keep it to earlier in the day. And because the adaptogens like eleuthero are traditionally used in cycles, many people do a stretch of daily use and then take a short break to keep feeling the full benefit. If you have high blood pressure, a heart condition, take blood thinners, or are pregnant or nursing, check with your doctor before making it a daily habit.

Check the overlap before you stack is what we tell people in the store. Ginkgo in particular can slow blood clotting, so if you are already taking fish oil, vitamin E, aspirin or any blood-thinning supplement, loop in your doctor before adding this daily. Eleuthero can also interact with certain medications including digoxin and blood pressure drugs. If you are on any regular medication or supplement protocol, a quick check with your doctor or pharmacist is the right move before making this part of your daily routine.
